How to print email from Gmail
How to print email from Gmail: open the message and click the printer icon at its top right; the print dialog opens and you choose a printer or Save as PDF. The Print all icon above the conversation prints every reply at once. Attachments are not printed with the message, and there is no multi-email print, but both have workable paths below.
Print email from Gmail, one message at a time
- Open Gmail in a browser and click the email.
- In the message header, find the row with the date and the reply arrow. Click the printer icon there. If you do not see it, click the three dots on that row and choose Print.
- Gmail opens a print-friendly view in a new tab and the browser's print dialog appears over it.
- Choose your printer under Destination, set copies and pages, and click Print.
The print view shows the Gmail logo, your account address, the subject, then the message with From, To and Date lines. Images that had already loaded in the message are included; blocked remote images are not, so click Display images below first if the email needs them. If the dialog never appears, the browser blocked Gmail's pop-up window; allow pop-ups for mail.google.com.
Have the email as a file (EML, MSG, MBOX)? Convert it to PDF in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
Print the whole conversation
In a thread, the icon inside one message prints only that message. To print every reply, use the Print all icon: it sits at the top right of the conversation, next to the New window icon, and looks like the same printer. Gmail expands collapsed messages, puts them in date order and sends the lot to one print job.
Long threads repeat quoted text because each reply carries the earlier messages inside it. Gmail hides that in the print view when it recognizes it, but not always; if the printout is three times longer than expected, printing only the latest message often contains the whole chain anyway.
Print to paper or print to PDF
The same dialog does both. Pick a printer for paper, or Save as PDF for a file that you can email, attach or keep. The PDF is produced by the browser from the page text, so it stays searchable and selectable, unlike a photo of the screen. Page size, orientation, margins and scale are set in the dialog; choose Fit to page or a smaller scale when a wide table is cut off at the right edge. Details and what the PDF omits are in how to save Gmail as PDF.
Print email with attachments
Printing an email prints the attachment names, not the attachments. Open each attachment from the message (click it, then use the print or download icon in the preview) and print it separately. For a file where the email and its attachments have to stay together, download the message first: three dots, Download message, which gives an .eml with the attachments inside. Drop that file on SaveMail; the message renders with its full header block and an attachment list with sizes, and you can print it to PDF and download all attachments as a ZIP from the same page. The general approach is in print an email with attachments.
Print multiple emails from Gmail
Gmail has no select-and-print. Selecting ten emails in the inbox list offers archive, delete, label and a few more, but not print. Your options:
| Count | What works | Note |
|---|---|---|
| A few | Open each, printer icon | Fastest for under ten |
| One conversation | Print all icon above the thread | Every reply in one print job |
| Dozens or more | Google Takeout of a label, then the converter | The MBOX lists every message; print each from the rendered view. See export Gmail emails to PDF |
There is no one-click bulk print from this site inside Gmail; the file-based route is the one that exists today. It processes one message at a time in your browser and never uploads the file.
Printing from the Gmail app
On Android, open the message, tap the three dots at its top right and choose Print; the system print sheet offers nearby printers and Save as PDF. On iPhone and iPad the same menu leads to Print, and the share sheet includes Save to Files for a PDF. The thread-level Print all exists only on the website, so for a whole conversation from a phone, open mail.google.com in the browser and request the desktop site. Frequently asked questions
How do I print an email from Gmail?
Open the message, click the printer icon at the top right of the message header, choose a printer in the dialog and click Print. Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on a Mac) opens the same dialog.
How do I print multiple emails from Gmail?
Gmail prints one conversation at a time. For a whole thread use Print all; for separate emails, print each one, or export a label with Takeout and print the messages from the converter.
How do I print in Gmail without the Gmail logo?
The print view always shows the logo and your address in the header. Uncheck Headers and footers in the dialog to drop the browser's own header; the Gmail header stays.
Why is the Gmail print preview blank?
Usually a pop-up blocker stopped the print window, or images had not loaded. Allow pop-ups for mail.google.com, open the message fully, then click the printer icon again.

Print the message, then open and print each attachment from its preview. Or download the message as .eml and open it in the converter, which lists all attachments next to the message.

Open the message, tap the three dots on the message, choose Print, and pick a printer or Save as PDF from the system sheet.
