How to print all attachments in Outlook
How to print all attachments in Outlook at once: open the email in classic Outlook, click File → Print → Print Options and check Print attached files; the message and every attachment go to the default printer. Without opening anything, select the attachments in the attachment bar, right-click and choose Quick Print. New Outlook and Outlook on the web have no such option, so you print each attachment from its own viewer, or save the email as a file and work from the attachment list in SaveMail.
What each Outlook can print
Outlook can print an email, and classic Outlook for Windows can hand attachments to the programs that open them. No version renders an attachment onto the same page as the email, which is what people often expect.
| Task | Classic Outlook | New Outlook / web | Outlook for Mac |
|---|---|---|---|
| Print the email | File → Print | More actions → Print | File → Print |
| Print all attachments with the email | Print Options → Print attached files | Not available | Not available |
| Print attachments without opening them | Select in attachment bar → right-click → Quick Print | Open each, print from the viewer | Open each, print |
| Email as .msg/.eml file, no Outlook | SaveMail: Save as PDF for the email, download attachments, print each | ||
Have the email as a file (EML, MSG, MBOX)? Convert it to PDF in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
How to print all attachments in Outlook together with the email (classic)
- Double-click the email to open it in its own window.
- Click File → Print.
- Choose the printer. This must be a physical printer; the attachments always go to the Windows default printer, so set that first.
- Click Print Options.
- Check Print attached files. Outlook notes that attachments print to the default printer only.
- Click Print.
Outlook prints the message, then opens each attachment in its associated program (Word for .docx, your PDF reader for .pdf, Excel for .xlsx) and sends it to the printer. That is why the option fails for file types with no program installed, and why a PDF reader set to open in a browser tab can swallow the job. It also means you cannot route the whole thing to a PDF printer: the attachments would ignore it.
Quick Print multiple attachments without opening them
- Select the email so the attachment bar shows under the subject.
- Click the first attachment, then Ctrl-click the others, or Ctrl-A inside the bar to select all.
- Right-click the selection and choose Quick Print.
Each file goes to the default printer through its own application. This is the fastest route when you want the attachments but not the email itself. To print attachments from several emails, do this per email; sort the folder by the attachment column so the emails with files sit together.
New Outlook, Outlook on the web and Mac
None of these has Print attached files. Two workarounds:
- Click each attachment to open the preview, then use the print icon or Ctrl-P in the viewer. Office files open in the web apps, PDFs in the browser viewer.
- Click Download all (web and new Outlook) or save all attachments (Mac), open the folder, select the files and right-click → Print. Windows sends each to its own app, the same way classic Outlook does.
The second route is faster for ten attachments and works offline. Downloading first is also the only way to keep a copy of what you printed.
Print an email and its attachments from a .msg file
When the email arrived as a .msg or .eml file, or you saved it as one for a record, drop it on savemail.app. The message renders in your browser tab (nothing is uploaded) with the header block, the body, and a list of attachments with names and sizes. Press Save as PDF and print the email from the dialog. Then download the attachments, individually or as a ZIP, and print them from their own programs. The PDF lists the attachment names, which documents what belonged to the message; the attachment contents themselves stay separate files, as they do in Outlook. The print email with attachments guide has the general version of this workflow for Gmail and other clients.
Attachments not printing in Outlook: what to check
- No default printer set: Print attached files and Quick Print use only the Windows default. Set it under Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers.
- No app for the file type: Outlook cannot print what Windows cannot open. Install a viewer or ask for a PDF.
- PDF attachments skipped: set a desktop PDF reader as the default for .pdf rather than a browser.
- Protected View blocks it: Office opens attachments read-only and may not print until you click Enable Editing; download the file first instead.
- Automatic printing of incoming attachments: Outlook rules can print a message but not its attachments. That needs a VBA script or a third-party tool; see download all attachments for the file-based alternative.
Frequently asked questions
